Parting line
A “parting line” is the line or seam of separation on the part where the two halves of the mold meet, and it can not be avoided.

In some housings, the parting line may be placed on the edge of the part. It could be “invisible”, so you may not find it. See 2 examples as below:
At Plastopia, we provides a DFM report to suggest where the parting lines should be. You don’t have to analyze the lines yourself, but confirm them before tooling. Here are 2 examples:

Talk to Plastopia if the parting line is important to your parts during quoting phase. The location or visual of parting lines will effect both tooling cost and unit part pricing. Here is an example: the part can be made with or without parting line on the button (cosmetic surface).
*In this case, the button without parting line will add unit part pricing. Increase of the tooling cost is small due to the part size.
